It was the Tiger Woods social media post heard/seen around the world.
Yesterday, the 82-time PGA Tour winner took to Instagram and X/Twitter to reveal that he and Vanessa Trump were officially together after online speculation and rumors suggested that the pair had hit it off. And if you were wondering, “That Trump?” Yes, it’s that Trump.
In case you need some catching up, Vanessa got a divorce from Donald Trump Jr. back in 2018, and since then, the 47-year-old has made an effort to stay out of the spotlight. But that’s easier said than done, especially when reports started tying Vanessa with the 15-time Major championship winner Tiger Woods in early March. The Daily Mail originally claimed (citing four separate sources) that Tiger and Vanessa were together.
Turns out that those sources were 100% accurate.
It’s believed that the pair has been together since last November. Vanessa Trump and Tiger Woods both live in the Palm Beach, Florida area, and their respective kids helped play a role in bringing Woods and Trump together. Vanessa’s oldest daughter, Kai, and Tiger’s two kids – Charlie and Sam – all attend a private school in Palm Beach called The Benjamin School.
One of the sources that spoke to the Daily Mail in early March claimed that things were initially casual (and a tad secretive) for the high-profile couple:
“Tiger and Vanessa have been seeing each other since just before Thanksgiving. She comes to his place on Jupiter Island. They’re not living together. She comes over and spends the night and leaves in the morning. Maybe a few nights a week.
They just love hanging out, having dinner and schmoozing together. They’re sticking close to home, have decided not to make it a thing and go out in public. Not just yet anyway.”
Tiger and Trump… has a nice ring to it, does it not?
Now before I get any further, there’s some obvious, interesting relational aspects at play with this Tiger-Trump pairing – mainly because Tiger is known to be good friends with President Donald Trump. The pro golfer recently visited the White House to talk about bringing together the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, and a hot mic caught Tiger and Trump saying they love each other… in a professional way, of course.
There’s no doubt that Tiger being with the former wife of Trump’s son Donald Jr. is a little awkward. Just imagine your ex getting together with one of the world’s most beloved athletes (and your dad being good friends with that athlete). However, the sources that provided the initial news suggested that Don Jr. and the rest of his family were aware that Vanessa and Tiger were together in a private relationship before they posted about their love online for everyone to see.
Tiger Woods sent out a message from his official social media account letting the whole world know that he’s with Vanessa Trump. The professional golfer got a little mushy with the announcement, sharing that he and Vanessa are doing “life together” and also using the opportunity to request privacy:
“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”
Remember learning about oxymorons back in grade school? Posting about your high profile relationship and then asking for privacy might be the textbook definition of one.
There were plenty of people who called out the absurd nature of the caption for the post. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was one of those people, and didn’t hold back (per usual) with his feelings about the post from Tiger:

On the flip side, there was a large grouping that was just happy that Tiger Woods had found love once again. Kai Trump (Vanessa’s daughter) liked the post, and Ivanka Trump shared the post with a message reading, “So happy for you both!” Vanessa even shared the photos to her own social media account to make things extra official (sharing to your own story on Instagram is social media’s way of signing off on something).
Though there was one message left behind by another high-profile personality that left some people stumped. If you are to go into the comments of Tiger Wood’s post on Instagram, you’ll see that rapper and producer Snoop Dogg left a puzzling reply that was directed at the pro golfer:
“Check your DM.”
Oh? What could Snoop Dogg possibly mean by that? I left out the fact that Snoop also included a Tiger emoji and a golf hole emoji, so it could be as simple as Snoop wanting to hit the links with Woods sometime soon. I’d imagine that won’t happen for a while though, since Tiger Woods is currently recovering from tearing his achilles.
So what could the rapper be DM-ing Tiger Woods about? The world may never know. All we do know is that Tiger and Vanessa’ request for privacy is really going to be put to the test. I’d say most people online are happy for both of them, but I’d also assume that most people will want to know every single detail of their relationship.
Maybe Tiger and Vanessa should have continued to keep things quiet?
