Ben Affleck Is Running It Back With Another “DunKing” Super Bowl Commercial Featuring His Brother Casey & Jeremy Strong

Ben Affleck
Dunkin

Batman and Robin. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Han Solo and Chewbacca. Ben Affleck and Dunkin’.

Those are just a few of the greatest partnerships the world has ever seen. For some strange reason, Hollywood star Ben Affleck and chain coffee company Dunkin’ (formerly Dunkin’ Donuts) have always been connected. Many draw it up as a Massachusetts connection… as that’s where Dunkin’ originated, and where Affleck was raised.

And the internet is often treated to a viral Ben-Affleck-holding-a-Dunkin-coffee picture. Paparazzi occasionally snap a picture of the actor on a coffee run, and most of the time, the snapshot turns into some sort of existential meme. Like the one you can see below:

Absolute art.

Ben Affleck has basically always been an unofficial spokesperson for the coffee brand. It’s only recently that Dunkin’ has started capitalizing on the seemingly natural synergy that occurs between their coffee and the Hollywood star. If you need proof of the undeniable chemistry between the man and the brand, look no further than last year’s “DunKings” Super Bowl ad spot.

Ben Affleck. Matt Damon. Tom Brady. Jennifer Lopez (awkward). It was a real who’s who chock full of zany premises, Boston accents, and outrageous Dunkin’ themed tracksuits. Last year’s commercial revolved around Affleck’s musical side project called “The DunKings”, where he played the front man of the Boston-area hip-hop group which featured Tom Brady on the keys.

There was even a 4-minute long director’s cut of the commercial.

This year’s advertisement looks like much of the same, though the cast of “DunKings” could be a little different. Ben Affleck is back, and this time he’s paired up with his Academy Award winning younger brother Casey. The teaser begins with the brothers knocking on Jeremy Strong’s dressing room, and barging in to find the Succession actor submerged in a barrel of coffee and coffee grounds.

The whole thing is a joke about Strong being a “method actor.” Unlike a lot of modern day commercials, it’s actually funny, mainly because it does a great job at poking fun at Ben Affleck. And if you are wondering where Matt Damon is, they explain his absence at the very end:

That “we should have paid for Matt” line at the end is hilarious.

I’ve got a feeling that Matt Damon will still make a cameo in the Super Bowl ad, but all in all, it’s just great to see the “DunKings” back – along with their obnoxiously bright track suits. It’ll also be interesting to see how Jeremy Strong fits into the fake, coffee-and-donut-themed hip-hop group.

The official ad spot hasn’t even come out yet (that was just the teaser) and the internet is already loving everything about it:

This SNL spoof is still the best Dunkin’ commercial I’ve ever seen…
