Sorority girls are quaking in their boots.
Sydney Sweeney got one of the best brand deals an actress, influencer, or any other mogul could wish for… she has been named a fraternity sweetheart. Yes, folks, that’s right. Sydney Sweeney beat out all the competition of other sorority girls, hoping to be given the coveted title of sweetheart for the University of Miami’s Theta Chi chapter.
The fraternity on campus shared an Instagram post officially announcing that she is the chapter’s sweetheart. The post included a solo picture of her and an image of the chapter president, Seppe Butera.
“Theta Chi is proud to announce our sweetheart Sydney Sweeney. Welcome to the family- can’t wait to see what the future holds…”

Sweeney commented on the post, saying:
“My favorite group of guys. See you soon. ;)”
The fraternity’s post suggests that Sweeney and the chapter’s president have in a relationship (but not romantically). Seppe shared an image of them on the red carpet at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards and from behind the scenes of her Hot Ones episode. Sweeney even commented on his most recent Instagram post.
Given this connection, it’s not an out-of-the-blue choice for the fraternity chapter to name her as a sweetheart.
The University of Miami must have a thing for blonde bombshells, as it’s famed for influencers like Alix Earle, Xandra Pohl, Kristin Konefal, and others.
Although Sweeney’s alma mater is on the opposite coast, as she went to the University of California, Los Angeles, she fits the mold for other girls who have become famous from the South Florida university.
I must admit this has to be an announcement that was absolutely not on my bingo card for the Anyone But You actress. Sweeney announced a partnership with the shoe brands Hey Dude and Dr. Squatch, which are not brands I would have thought she’d work with after being the face of the high-end skincare brand Laneige. But hey, she clearly knows she’s a hit among men and is leaning into that.
While college kids are not the demographic I expected her to work with, this is huge for Theta Chi’s recruitment for next year. What 19-year-old boy wouldn’t want to pledge to the fraternity with Sydney Sweeney as its sweetheart?
I’m interested in seeing if Sweeney appears at any Theta Chi events after being given this honor.
