Yellowstone is back for another episode tonight, titled “Desire Is All You Need,” and from the looks of it, all fans need is for Taylor Sheridan to push the story forward.
One thing that I love about both 1883 and 1923, the two Yellowstone prequel series, is that Taylor Sheridan explicitly says they’re just “peeks in the window” of the greater Dutton narrative… you don’t get to see everything… just a glimpse of this family at a particular, yet monumental, place in time.
And yet, with this final season, Taylor Sheridan keeps taking us back in time with all these flashbacks, and let’s just fans of the show aren’t exactly a… fan.
And the reasoning? Some of the current scenes are SO much better. Lynelle Perry’s scene with Jamie was stellar and it wasn’t a flashback, Kayce with the Coroner? Pretty damn intense… Jamie and Kayce meeting? C’mon with it.
And yet, throughout this final season… we keep going back in time to lame, filler, fluff… call it what you want, but we don’t need it.
Fan’s are letting Yellowstone know on social media:
What sucks is the current scenes are good, and then they make his watch these flashbacks. Someone pointed out that the flashbacks in the beginning are to show something good that happened, then boom we’re in the thick of it. I disagree. The flashbacks take up majority of the ep.

The episode isn’t even over yet, and it’s getting a whole lot more interesting…. stay tuned… we’ll be back with more.
And how about my man Charles Wesley Godwin on the soundtrack in the early going? Best country act in the game… hands down. If you’re looking for the entire Yellowstone soundtrack, complete through every episode of Season 5 so far, then look no further.
