Tyler Childers may not play “Shake The Frost” as often as he once did, but since so many other artists love the song, they do their part to ensure that fans hear the tune live.
Marcus King has been playing the hit from Live On Red Barn Radio I & II on the road this year, telling the audience that he likes to pull out the ditty when he’s missing his wife, Briley. If you’ve been lucky enough to see Marcus King perform it live, then you know how magical his take on the song is, and if you’ve seen snippets of it on social media, you’re probably hoping he drops a studio cut of the cover one day.

While we have been loving his take on the track, he’s got some competition as Wyatt Flores shared his take on the hit with his fans. This one needs to be on your radar because it is similar to King’s, so we need to hear a full version.
Wyatt Flores recently wrapped up his Welcome To The Plains tour and closed it out with Noeline Hofmann accompanying him on the last leg. While sharing the spotlight with the up-and-coming star from Canada, Flores invited Hofmann out on stage with him for a portion of his set. The two laid down some of the most stunning harmonies while putting their spin on “Shake The Frost.”
Hofmann is a shining star who emerged last year. After being endorsed by Zach Bryan on the Belting Bronco Sessions, where she performed her single “Purple Gas,” he later asked Hofmann to make the track a duet for both of them to sing together. While I prefer Hofmann’s solo version, she proved to fans she was not a one-hit songwriter, laying it down on later singles “August” and “One Hell Of A Woman.”
While Hofmann is well on her way to being a powerhouse, Flores sharing the stage with her allows folks who might have missed her opening set to see what they missed out on. Flores recently shared a snippet of the two singing “Shake The Frost,” and it left me speechless.

Their harmonies on the cover are out of this world. Flores’ lead vocals are strong and steady, and Hofmann’s more gentle vocal accompaniment pairs perfectly. Given the snippet Flores shared only highlights the last few lines of the song, I can only imagine how moving the entire cover is.
Wyatt Flores and Noeline Hofmann, I am begging on my hands and knees for a full version of this cover to be released. The fans need to hear this goodness in full.

Ahead of his Red Rocks show, Flores teamed up with Sierra Hull to put a bluegrass twist on “Shake The Frost,” which is also a great take on the song. Fire that one up while you’re listening if you’re itching to hear some.
