A stellar talent and rising star.

Today, Noeline Hofmann released two debut singles, one called “Lightning in July (Prairie Fire)” as well as “Purple Gas,” which you may recognize from Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene when they sang it as a duet.

The 20-year-old Canada native combines inspiration from growing up in rolling western plains with grittiness, creating a sound that is precisely what the country music space is moving towards. Zach Bryan first discovered Hofmann in October of 2023 when she posted a video of her original track “Purple Gas,” which is the same single she sings in her ‘Belting Bronco Session.’

She has an incredibly mature and haunting voice, and an innate knack for storytelling, giving her a unique ability to tell stories with maturity beyond her years that resonate deeply with listeners from all walks of life.

And these two debuts singles exemplify her talent, and she says that “Purple Gas,” already a fan-favorite, is directly inspired by her upbringing in Canada:

“‘Purple Gas’ was inspired by my upbringing in rural southern Alberta, Canada and time spent working on a cattle ranch in western Manitoba.

The imagery is derived from lived experiences in those settings. It’s a song about resilience and the rural attitude through hardships out of one’s control.”

And as far as “Lightning in July (Prairie Fire)” goes, she says it’s a “cheeky self-introduction” to get fans fired up at her live shows as she sets out for tour with fellow with Canadian Colter Wall, and Wyatt Flores, this year:

“It’s a cheeky self-introduction—a playful, all attitude, can’t stop won’t stop, walk the walk, talk the talk fight song.

It’s inspired by a feeling of walking around with a loaded gun – so to speak – and being underestimated or overlooked. I wrote it with the intent to add a fun traditional country barnburner to the setlist before going on tour.”

To say these two debut singles are impressive feels like an understatement, and as Noeline’s name and catalog continues to grow, I think she will become a quick star in the world of independent country, and hopefully well beyond that.

When you possess the kind of talent that she does, the sky really is the limit, so to speak, and she’s proving she’s not only here to stay, but to become a star, and I”m here for it.

Do yourself a favor and check both songs out below.
