An update from ZB.

The internet has been in talks nonstop today as the release date of Bryan’s seemingly explosive tell-all with his ex, Brianna Chickenfry, is about to drop. Yesterday, Brianna’s co-hosts of the BFFs Podcast, Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards, released a diss track, “Smallest Man,” that went all in on Bryan and his alleged wrongdoings.

“If Zach is awake I know that he’s been drinkin’
Head looks like a Lego, hair like Homer Simpson
This is for the women that you cheated and neglected
Music is infectious, your penis is infected
You gave out STDs and then you start to spiral
Zach, that’s not what we mean by going viral”

While Zach Bryan’s label, Warner Music, quickly pulled the track due to copyright issues, or so they thought, and Portnoy and Richards planned on re-releasing it today. However, that plan took a hilarious turn south when they found out the reason they were actually banned from releasing the song was because Josh Richards is also signed to Warner Music. But diss track released or not, Brianna is about to spill it all as she gears up to tell her side of the story, and from a teaser clip posted by BFFs Podcast, it seems like she is leaving out no details.

“You made the women before me believe that they had no other choice than to take money from you, sign their experiences away, sign what they went through away. You get to skip off and sing your little f***ing songs on stage like you’re a good dude…

Now, of course, this is only one side of the story… remember that.

While Zach has not commented publicly on all of this other than the initial breakup statement he released, it appears that he is responding through music or… at least keeping himself busy.

He’s been previewing new tracks and released a stellar new single today, “This World’s A Giant.” After ZB shared that he’s been recording for 40 hours straight, fans got excited that he is wearing his heart on his sleeve and sharing his experience with this breakup through song.

However, ZB shared a post shortly after this teaser clip was posted with an update on his music and life. After the couple split, he returned to his home in Oklahoma and shared with fans what he had been up to and the music he had been working on.

While the post does share ZB’s upcoming plans and highlight that he’s releasing more new music tonight, it’s highly emotional as he gives this update based on what he told his late mother while visiting her grave.

“After not being home for a year and a half I drove out to my mothers gravestone in the dead of night a few days back on familiar Oklahoma roads and I came to realize just like in the past, that she never would call me again.

Told her I quit touring because I got accepted to get my masters in Paris next year; I told her I was back in Oklahoma, told her about all my best friends in New York and all the nights we howled with the moon, told her about the immeasurable laughter my band and me have shared these last five years, all the calluses on my fingertips, every tear shed, told her about making it on the ‘Rolling Stone’ and most importantly told her about porch swinging with my beautiful sister.

I wrote the chorus for this song a month or two back and finished it when I realized I was blessed with all these things. I figured it was about time I released it. Thank you guys for listening to ‘This Worlds a Giant’ last night and thank you to all the people who love me; who have truly carried the weight with me.

Seems that all these Quiet Dreams have gotten much too heavy, but I’m home now, and I’ll hold you through the pain.

High Road is out today, and I appreciate all of you.”

I am not going to lie… reading the details of this conversation he has at his mother’s grave site brought some tears to my eyes. The breakup drama will be breakup drama, but clearly, ZB is going through some heavy stuff in his personal life and navigating the narrative across social media. It’s also interesting to hear him say again that he won’t be touring in an effort to get his Master’s degree. Nevertheless, I’m here for the new music.

The countdown is on to the release of “High Road” tonight, which sounds like a direct response to the Brianna airing our their dirty laundry (even though it was partly written awhile back).
