Larry Fleet does not miss.

One of the best songwriters in the game is shedding light on one of the tracks of his most recent project, Earned It. If there is one artist who should get a gold star for the live performance of his own songs and covers uploaded to YouTube, it’s Larry Fleet.

It’s the perfect way to showcase a song on an album that someone might overlook or for fans to see it in a new light. And with the covers he uploads, it’s the perfect way to hook fans unfamiliar with his work but love a song from Alice in Chains or someone else.

Recently, Larry Fleet gave a beautiful live performance of “Lord Willing” for his “The Mulehouse Sessions.”

“Lord Willing” is hands down one of my favorite tracks off his latest album, and it reminds me a lot of “Where I Find God,” which is the song that put Fleet on the map. The premise of the track is that the narrator finds himself looking at the little things in his life, like waking up next to his wife or watching his kids in the yard. As he reflects on these moments, he hopes that the Lord will let him have many more of these moments throughout his time on Earth.

“Lord willing, baby, I’ll keep waking up next to you
This truck’ll keep running like it did brand new
And blessings come down and my prayers keep getting through the ceiling
Lord willing, these little you and me’s keep growing strong
The hard times don’t stick around too long
And I can make a living, even if I don’t make a killing, Lord willing…”

This full band performance as a part of “The Mulehouse Sessions” is simply flawless. The moody setting for the performance, with the stained glass windows peaking through some shots, gives it the feeling as though you are at church, and Fleet and his band take listeners to church with this song.

Fleet’s casual delivery of his vocals captures the viewer’s attention after the first few lines, as each note is spot on. His talent comes so naturally that it is addicting to watch him perform because you can tell he’s an artist through and through.

If you’re a fan of “Where I Find God” and aren’t familiar with “Lord Willing,” this is a must-watch. And if you’re already a fan of the song, this will make you fall even more in love with it.

Fire it up.
