“Partisanship Has Gone Too Far” – Bill Maher Calls Out Taylor Swift For Not Sitting With Brittany Mahomes At Chiefs Season Opener

Speaking out on the big issues.

Of course the biggest issue in American politics right now is Taylor Swift not sitting with Brittany Mahomes at the Kansas City Chiefs season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. We clearly have to get that sorted out before we tackle the less important stuff like skyrocketing inflation, the wide open border, war in the Middle East or what kind of ice cream Joe Biden had today.

(If you don’t recognize the sarcasm dripping from my words right now, I don’t know what to tell you).

If you missed it, the whole stupid discussion started back when Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, liked a post from former President Donald Trump on Instagram. Swifties weren’t happy with Mahomes and began demanding the pop superstar, and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, dump her friend Brittany over her support of Trump.

Brittany seemed to be wholly unbothered by the outrage from Swifties, and even began liking pro-Trump comments on her own Instagram posts. And earlier this week, Trump even thanked Brittany for her support:

Obviously most of Swift’s fans are hoping that she’ll endorse Kamala Harris, and it seems that they can’t even stand the thought of their idol being friends with a Trump supporter.

So when Thursday night’s game rolled around, Swifties quickly noticed that Brittany and Taylor weren’t seated in the same box and quickly began praising their pop star idol for not being seen with a Trump supporter:

Of course there’s no indication that politics was the reason that the two didn’t sit together. A simpler explanation could just be that both Mahomes and Kelce have their own box for their families. And Brittany was also there with her young daughters, and is currently pregnant, so she’s not going to be partying like she was last season.

But like everything with Taylor Swift, her move brought a ton of attention and speculation – and Bill Maher even weighed in on his show Real Time With Bill Maher.

The liberal comedian addressed the controversy by calling out Swift for not sitting with her friend:

“In the past, Taylor Swift was always in the same box with Brittany Mahomes. And now, they can’t sit in the same box. I guess because Brittany liked some of Trump’s tweets, and Taylor’s for Kamala.

Don’t you think partisanship has gone too far?”

Now, it sounded like Maher was being more than a little sarcastic with his question, though his guest John Avlon agreed that it’s time for the two sides to get past their differences and focus more on what we all have in common than what we disagree on.

But I don’t know how that’s going to happen until Brittany and Taylor sit together at a football game. Our country needs healing, and only one thing can make that happen.
