Is this really why people were tuning into the game?
Of course the NFL season just started, but there’s no doubt that plenty of Swifties watched the season opener last night between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens just to see Taylor Swift.
The pop superstar, and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, made her first appearance of the season at Arrowhead Stadium last night, and got plenty of airtime during the game. But apparently some fans also noticed who she WASN’T sitting with: Brittany Mahomes, her friend and wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Taylor and Brittany bonded last season during the Chiefs Super Bowl run, and were often seen sitting and celebrating together as they cheered on the team.
But recently, Swifties weren’t happy with Mahomes when she liked a post from former President Donald Trump on Instagram, and then began liking pro-Trump comments on her own posts.
Then earlier this week, Trump even thanked Brittany for her support:

Most of Swift’s fans are hoping that she’ll endorse Kamala Harris, and it seems that they can’t even stand the thought of their idol being friends with a Trump supporter. So when Brittany and Taylor weren’t seated in the same box last night, naturally the internet went wild:
Brittany Mahomes is facing a pretty big decision. She can’t support Trump and remain friends with Taylor Swift. She’s going to have to choose. Swift isn’t going to tolerate it.

Of course politics could be the reason that the two didn’t sit together. But a simpler explanation could just be that both Mahomes and Kelce have their own box for their family, and their significant others chose to sit with their man’s families. (Brittany was also there with her young daughter).
But then again, in this hyper-politicized environment, some people can’t stand the thought of somebody they worship even being seen with somebody from the other side of the aisle.
Buckle up, folks. Still got a long time before election day.
