If she’s this good at 17 years old, Carrie Brockwell’s got a bright future.
You may not know her name yet, but the country newcomer is already making a name for herself in Nashville with her killer songwriting – and she hasn’t even started college yet.
The rising freshman at Belmont University has gotten quite a bit of attention in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia, but since moving to Nashville she’s already made appearances on the Grand Ole Opry’s WSM Radio and on local TV. And when you hear her music, it’s not hard to see why.
Her latest single, “Not Your Forever Home,” is a wise-beyond-her-years reflection about leaning on faith as you navigate the struggles of this world.
“Who’s gonna tell her that it’s nothing like the movies
And life can be insane
Every day’s a struggle to smile and have the pain
Know that it’s gonna be ok
One day He’ll reach out His hand
Call you His own
Don’t worry girl, this is not your forever home”
Speaking about the song, Carrie said:
“Not Your Forever Home is a song about redemption, faith, and fully trusting that wherever life takes you, God has you in his hands. This world is so insane, but we find peace in knowing that this Earth is not our forever home.
I am thrilled to not only share a beautiful story about someone working through trouble in their life, but one about their connection with God and how that’s what leads them through their dark season.”
Like I said, wise beyond her years.
I also appreciate that Carrie is honing her talents on stage, not only making it to Hollywood on a prior season of American Idol but also getting out and playing shows for actual audiences instead of sitting in front of a camera and posting to social media.
If what we’ve seen from her already is any indication of what to come, Carrie Brockwell is one you’re going to want to have on your radar sooner rather than later.
