What’s your favorite Alan Jackson song?
It’s almost an impossible question to answer, but that’s exactly what we’re going to try to do.
Honestly if you asked me my favorite AJ song it would probably change depending on the day – or even the hour. “Dallas,” “Drive (For Daddy Gene)” and “Midnight in Montgomery” are all near the top of my list, but then there are classics like “Chattahoochee” and “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow,” or even singles that may not get mentioned as often like “Blue Blooded Woman” or “Jim and Jack and Hank.”
There’s not a bad song in his catalog – so choosing just one is pretty much impossible.
Alan just recently announced that he was hitting the road for 10 new dates on his Last Call: One For the Road tour, so to gear up for the tour, we figured we’d try to narrow it down to our favorite AJ single.
To start out with, we had to somehow do the impossible task of seeding all of his incredible singles – so we put it to a vote.
As it turns out, there were four that were pretty clear frontrunners – and I bet you can probably guess at least a couple of them.
The #1 seeds in the tournament are:
- “Chattahoochee”
- “Remember When”
- “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)”
- “Drive (For Daddy Gene)”
Unfortunately because Alan has released 67 singles during his career, that means that there were 3 that would have to be left out of the tournament.
But in between the top four seeds and the three that didn’t make the cut, it was really anybody’s game. There wasn’t a single song on the list that didn’t get at least a handful of votes, and there were also a few that were separated by only a single vote – which goes to show you just how stacked Alan’s catalog really is.
