If ya got, it flaunt it, amirite?

Of course, I think many of us have seen the viral videos of Lainey Wilson’s mega viral butt, which was all over the internet a couple years ago. It first started with the video below, which features an absolutely perfect angle of her butt looking fantastic in a pair of leopard print bell bottoms:

And it spread like wildfire from there, with guys fawning over her and girls wishing they were so blessed in that area.

She took it all in stride, poking fun at herself throughout the tidal wave of attention, saying more than once that if that attention would ultimately point people to her music, she didn’t really care… but she’s also human, and I imagine that kind of attention would get to you in some way too, even just a little bit.

In a new Hulu special produced by Robin Roberts called Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country, which is available to stream now on Hulu, Lainey shared candidly about all of her feelings on the situation a couple years later, which did open her up to a much broader audience (in addition to appearing in the hit series Yellowstone, among other things).

She reiterated her point that yes, she was happy that she was gaining new fans, even if it wasn’t because they necessarily found her through her music initially:

“So it was November of 2022, I was scrolling on TikTok and I noticed a few videos of my butt that had gone viral. And then I noticed like a week later, it continued and continued. And then the next week I was like, golly, it’s still there.

It wasn’t just like a small little viral moment, it was a big, no pun intended, moment… whatever brings them in. First of all, I’m like, how did y’all just notice that I’ve got a big ‘ol butt? Like, it’s been back there the whole time.

But yeah, I went back to, how would Dolly handle this situation? How would Reba handle this situation? And they’d laugh about it, and they’d move on with it. That’s just part of it, you know?”

And Lainey did just that, with grace and class, though she also admits she fell victim to reading the comments section on occasion which was a horrible idea, as pretty much any public figure or celebrity would tell you… but I’ll admit, I do think it would be hard not to sometimes:

“And of course, don’t go down the rabbit hole of looking at comments, and I’ve learned my lesson with that.”

Roberts then questioned her on whether or not it was irritating to have so much attention on her body, which often happens with female celebrities to a much harsher extent than some of their male counterparts.

Lainey was honest in admitting that the attention on her butt did make her feel “weird” in a way, which I can certainly imagine, even if you’re being complimented for whatever feature people appreciate about your body, it still feels a little bit violating in a strange way.

And who knows, it could’ve been an insecurity of hers that people just assumed she’d loved about herself. I’m not trying to put words in her mouth, but you just never know (being a girl is hard), especially because like I said, she played it off and handled it all so well.

But Lainey ended her response with a mic drop answer:

“It is different… it definitely has been… I’m not going to sit here and say it has not made me feel weird. But at the end of the day, me gaining a few pounds or me losing a few pounds, it ain’t got nothing to do with my story, or me singing, or my songwriting.

If you’ve got a problem with that, turn off the radio, ‘cuz you’re gonna be hearing me on the radio.”

And considering the Louisiana native just scored her seventh #1 hit at country radio with “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” she couldn’t be more right about that… I just love Lainey.

Lainey is also gearing up to release her forthcoming album Whirlwind, which is due out everywhere on August 23rd. Already released songs “Country’s Cool Again” and “Hang Tight Honey” will be featured on the tracklist.
