The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina didn’t actually think they’d see the alligator later (they hopefully took the opportunity to say “see ya later, alligator”) once they removed it from the roadway the first time.
A moving reptilian roadblock was causing trouble on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge last week, so officers were called to the area to remove it from the roadway. Brunswick County deputies responded to the scene and worked quickly and carefully to remove the large alligator. Once they got it off the highway, they considered the gator removal successful and headed on their merry way.
However, only a couple of hours after their first alligator removal, they were called once again about a massive alligator wreaking havoc on… you guessed it, the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. When they returned to the same sight they had just been not too long beforehand, the exact same alligator was there waiting for them on the highway.
So they did what they did the first time and captured the alligator, only this time they made sure to get it on video. Sure, they ended up posting it, and that’s why they could have captured it on camera the second time around. But I like to think the other officers back at the Sheriff’s Office wanted video proof they had actually caught it after the first time proved to be unsuccessful.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office posted the video of the second capture and shared this message on their Facebook account:
Deputies safely removed the gator TWICE from Highway 17 South entering Brunswick County. Thankfully, the alligator was saved from traffic on the highway and those traveling the highway were saved from the gator!”
