Honoring the late, great Brit Turner.

Last month, the country music community suffered another loss when Blackberry Smoke‘s drummer, Brit Turner, lost his battle with brain cancer.

Brit Turner was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer, in 2022 and had surgery to remove a tumor. While Turner was featured on the group’s 8th studio album, Be Right Here, shortly after its release, the group informed their fans that Turner had tragically passed away.

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has moved on from this life. If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know he was the most caring, empathetic, driven and endearing person one could ever hope to meet.

Brit was Blackberry Smoke’s True North, the compass that instituted the ideology that will continue to guide this band. Brit has battled glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and fought every day. We ask for prayers for his family and band brothers.”

While Turner was an integral part of the band, Blackberry Smoke put together a tribute concert to not only highlight some of his remarkable work behind the drum kit but also celebrate the teammate, friend, and musical mastermind that he was.

For one night, on August 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia, Blackberry Smoke is teaming up with 49 Winchester to celebrate the life of Brit Turner through music.

“Brothers and sisters, we hope you’ll join us on August 23 at Cadence Bank Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA, as we celebrate the life and legacy of our brother Brit Turner. Our friends 49 Winchester will also be joining us.”

The presale for the show begins tomorrow (April 16th) at 10 AM local time. The pairing of 49 Winchester with Blackberry Smoke is beyond stellar, and I can’t think of a better group to accompany them to celebrate the legacy of Brit Turner.

This will not be one you want to miss. Rest in peace, Brit Turner.
