Former UFC Champion Mark Coleman was a tough guy to knock down back in his prime, and he appears to still be that way years later.

In case you missed it, Coleman was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition after he rushed into his childhood home that was engulfed in flames to save his parents. The Ohio home was considered a total loss, and though Coleman’s parents made it out safely, it almost cost the former MMA fighter his life.

Unfortunately, many people in the fighting world were hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. The initial reports and updates on Coleman’s health weren’t promising, and an outpouring of thoughts and prayers were sent his way as the first ever UFC champ was battling for his life.

Finally, on Thursday of last week, good news hit the MMA world. A video showing Coleman “awake and alert” was posted onto social media, and it was about as emotional as it gets. The footage featured Mark hugging his family, crying, and saying that he was the “happiest man in the world.”

Then earlier today, Coleman posted onto his own social media account with a video that was accompanied by this inspirational message:

“God is great. I am healing up very well. My lungs are sore. My eyes are burnt but I’m very much alive and well. I feel so blessed it’s in my higher power’s hands. He wants me to move forward today and I am.

I’m overwhelmed by the love and support that I have received, if I had a wish it would be that I could meet each and every one of you to give you a big hug and thank you in person. Everybody check in on your loved ones life is good life is what you make it. Everything starts with a thought keep the negative thoughts out of your head, love you all so much.”

How great it is to see that Coleman is doing well.

Apparently well enough to even get back into the gym. He might not have been working out, but he stopped by his local UFC training gym and was caught on camera by fighter Matt Brown pronouncing that Coleman was “back.” Mark had this to say in response:

“I never left… well, for a second.”

He’s gotta be one of the toughest people to ever walk on planet Earth…
