It’s about time for the most famous words in motorsports…

The Daytona 500 is just two days away, with the 2024 NASCAR season kicking off on Sunday.

And on hand to fire up the engines (and the crowd) will be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who will serve as Grand Marshal for the Great American Race.

In announcing The Rock as Grand Marshal for the 66th running of the Daytona 500, President of Daytona International Speedway Frank Kelleher said there’s nobody better to get the crowd fired up:

“Nothing compares to the intensity and anticipation of that first command of the NASCAR season as we kick off the 66th running of the DAYTONA 500, and who better to say those four famous words than Dwayne Johnson.

There are very few people who can truly match the energy around the pomp and circumstance of The Great American Race, and The Rock may be the only person who can actually ramp it up even more. We can’t wait to see how he fires up the crowd and the engines for all the fans.”

And it sounds like The Rock is pretty fired up himself.

Before he gives the command for drivers to start their engines, The Rock posted about his excitement for the big race:

Man I’m pumped to be the Grand Marshal for THIS SUNDAY’s ELECTRIFYING Daytona 500. The ENERGY, the MANA, with the KINGS of the road!! I’ve always had massive respect for the drivers and this sport— can’t wait!! Truly honored to give the command, “Drivers start your engines”

And aside from serving as Grand Marshal of the biggest race of the year, it seems The Rock has something else cooking too. He also took to social media to tease “something big” coming on Monday.

But for now, I’ll be sitting here counting down the hours to the Daytona 500 – and praying that it doesn’t get rained out like it’s looking like it might.

I need to hear The Rock give that electrifying command on Sunday.
