How you gonna do Celine like that?
That’s what many online are asking after Taylor Swift seemingly ignored the living legend while accepting the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
The legendary Celine Dion made a rare public appearance amid her battle with a rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome.
There’s no cure for the disease, which causes stiffness in the abdomen that eventually spreads throughout the body and results in painful spasms.
So the crowd was understandably excited when Celine made a surprise appearance to present the night’s biggest award for Album of the Year.
Even Taylor Swift was seen singing and dancing along to Celine’s hit “The Power Of Love” as she was being introduced.
But after it was announced that Taylor had won her record fourth Album of the Year Grammy for her 2022 album Midnights, the clearly-surprised superstar seemed to ignore Celine Dion as she gathered her friends onstage to accept the trophy.
And the internet, including many of Taylor’s own fans, weren’t too happy with her treatment of the living legend in her rare public appearance:
Of course after the show, a picture was posted showing Celine and Taylor together backstage, so it doesn’t look like it was really as big of a deal as people online are making it out to be.
And let’s be honest: By the end of the show, Taylor was probably a few drinks in already and not thinking as clearly as she was when she won her first award and shocked the world by announcing her new album coming this spring, The Tortured Poets Department.
But Taylor’s actions are always going to be under a microscope. And I guess that’s just the price you have to pay when you’re one of the biggest superstars in the world.
