When you think “unapologetic” in country music, Aaron Lewis might be one of the first names that comes to mind.
The former front man for Staind has made quite the name for himself in the country music realm, as he’s garnered a loyal, rather Conservative fanbase since he made the call to pursue country music. His most recent album, Frayed At Both Ends, was more of a stripped-down project, and his next will follow suit.
Announced today, his 5th career country music studio album will be titled The Hill, and is set to drop on March 29th.
Lewis discussed where he’s at in his country music career:
“Music has always been my escape, my way of expressing the things that I don’t express very well in life. I’m coming up on 52 years old, and I’m on the hill I’m going to stand on. Nobody’s going to change me now. This record is a snapshot of my life and how I’m feeling and where my head is at – and that’s what my records have always been.”
It’s another record that’s just really stripped down to the guts. I like raw. I like life’s imperfections showing through. I’m not perfect, nobody is. And I don’t want the music I’m putting out to be either.”
The lead single, titled “Let’s Go Fishing,” didn’t waste any time calling out the sad state of the world, but rather than shaking an angry fist, the song calls for us to turn off the news, disconnect from the mess, and get into the great outdoors.
