Last Friday, we were hit with the devastating news that Laura Lynch, a founding member of the Dixie Chicks, had passed away in a head-on car crash in Texas.

The 65-year old died instantly after a westbound truck entered the eastbound lane to pass two cars just outside of El Paso, ultimately colliding with Lynch’s Ford F-150 head on.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, and Lynch was declared dead at the scene.

The vehicles reportedly caught fire after the accident.

Following the tragic car accident, The Chicks shared in a statement on Instagram:

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks. We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing, and traveling together.

Laura was a bright light… her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band. Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas, and was instrumental in the early success of the band.

Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid-west. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this time.”

And now, horrific video footage has been released from the crash.

In the gut wrenching video footage, you can see the two cars mangled, not even resembling trucks anymore.

After looking at the two vehicles, it’s a miracle that somebody even survived at all.

Cherish every moment, folks. You never know which day might be your last.
