An unlikely relationship that made for a perfect match.
This week, Gwen Stefani was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and while it’s an honor for any celebrity to have their name added to the walk, Gwen had the honor of sharing the moment with her husband.
The Oklahoma native, Blake Shelton, stepped up to the podium during the ceremony, saying some very tender things about his bride…so much so the words brought Gwen to tears.
“The first time I ever met Gwen was in 2014. She was unlike any other famous person I’d ever met before.”
Shelton started his speech, noting he had prepared so he wouldn’t ramble on about his wife. He describes that during their first interactions, she drove herself to work, had no security, and dealt with the chaos of having two little boys run around her.
“It was clear to me that she was a mother, first and foremost over anything else in the world. That was her number one job.
And now, standing here, almost ten years later, after I first met her, I can say without question that being a mother is still the most important thing in her life. And I’ve got to tell y’all that is rare in this business.”
He then jokes that seeing her “side project” being honored in Hollywood is nice.
Now, folks, buckle up because this is where the waterworks start from Gwen, and Shelton lays it on thick with compliments on how great he thinks Gwen is.
“In my opinion, Gwen is the perfect person to receive a star on the Walk of Fame. From music, television, movies….fashion, and beauty, she has risen to the top over and over again with her unique style that has made the world fall in love with her.
Not as much as me, though…”
He then goes on to chat about her star quality and how she can captivate an audience from the moment a crowd lays eyes on her. The sweet words that he speaks have her looking at him endearingly.
Of course, being a musician himself, Shelton also highlights her songwriting talent.
“Gwen has blessed a lot of people’s lives with her songwriting talent in more ways than one. Now, I know firsthand hand it takes a lot of people to make a hit record, but none of this would have ever happened without Gwen Stefani, the songwriter.
So congrats to my all-time favorite songwriter on their star. You deserve this, and I love you.”
After she dries her eyes, the couple embraces, and she comments how he made her cry.
