NASCAR driver Ryan Preece is counting his blessings after flipping his number 41 car in terrifying fashion last Saturday, where it rolled over 10 times before coming to rest at Daytona International Speedway

I’ll admit, it looked like one of those wrecks that nobody could possibly survive, but Preece was able to walk away from the vehicle, and suffered only minor injuries.

In fact, he was cleared to race at the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway yesterday, and made the announcement in epic fashion last week, saying in a social media post:

“I’ll see you at Darlington. I’m sitting right here, I’m completely fine. I feel good and, obviously, I’m ready to get to Darlington…

If you want to be a race car driver, you better be tough. D*mmit. Fast (Race Choice Ford) Mustang. I’m coming back.”

Needless to say, it’s great to see that Preece is in good spirits, and it hasn’t deterred his drive to continue racing.

But…

Boy did that wreck mess his face up, respectfully.

Preece took off his sunglasses and showed off his bruised and busted eyes in an interview, and he said:

“I figured you were gonna ask so here you go.

They aren’t bad, I mean I’m just gonna put an end to it right now, because people, what I want you all to know is that racing in general, whether you’re racing a Sprint car or modified in general, it’s dangerous.

There’s consequences to everything.”

According to NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass, busted blood vessels is fairly common among drivers who barrel roll at high speeds, but that doesn’t make it any less gnarly.
