Relive Billy Strings’ Killer Set From Lollapalooza 2022

Mr. Strings does it again.

Festival season is in full swing, and  Billy Strings continues to spotlight bluegrass while performing on some of the biggest festival stages throughout the summer.

Billy Strings recently posted a throwback from Lollapalooza 2022, right after he really took off in country music beyond bluegrass fans.

Ironically he shared this throwback set right after he played Chicago at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island… so in a roundabout way, kind of a full-circle moment.

I mean, Huntington Bank Pavilion is one of the largest amphitheaters I have seen capacity-wise. The massive complex holds over 30,000 people.

Granted, the recorded number for Lollapalooza attendance last year was 400,000 people, but that does not account for the other stages that the crowd could have been at during Strings’ set last year (or note those who might have been getting a slow start to the day from previous nights shenanigans).

That said, the stage he stepped on is packed all the way to the back for Strings’ set.

This is the perfect full set to start with if you’re a new bluegrass fan. It’s only an hour, but it still captures the essence of his sound and hits all of the classics. While there might not be as many covers or jam-bad segments, you still get to see what Strings does best.

He is also in awe of the crowd that he drew to the stage when he says:

“I’m kind of flabbergasted because we are just a little bluegrass band… and we don’t really know what the f**k we are doing up here opening up for Metallica.”

Regardless of whether people were there all for Strings, there are plenty of converted bluegrass fans in the crowd from seeing this set… I’m certain.

God bless Billy Strings.
