Oh boy, new music is truly right around the corner.

Last night Flatland Cavalry took the stage of The Bluestone in Columbus, Ohio.

Not only was it the celebration of frontman Cleto Cordero’s 31st birthday, Flatland also told the crowd they are dropping a new single this month.

The band debuted the new song, “Last American Summer” on stage for the sold-out crowd, and wow, this will be a good one.

Dropping on June 30th, the upbeat guitar riff that kicks off the tune sets the tone for a perfect summer song. The reminiscing lyrics recall a group of fond memories that happen each summer.

The airy beat matches the lyrics perfectly, making you want to sing along even if you don’t know the words.

I think that “Last American Summer” has the potential to be the song that I have on repeat all summer long. Get ready to have this TikTok on repeat till the tune comes out.

Cleto’s wife, Kaitlin Butts, also made an appearance on stage, surprising the crowd with a performance of “In A Life Where We Work Out.” This song is truly a love letter translated into lyrics. Seeing Cleto’s tender looks toward Kaitlin throughout the tune melts my heart.

She also surprised her husband with a birthday cake and celebrated with some of their biggest supporters: Their fans.

It seemed like a damn good birthday if you ask me, being able to do what you love, sharing the music you make with people you love. A killer way to start 31.

Happy Birthday (a day late), Cleto.
