Yet another country artist is coming to us from West Virginia.
Philip Bowen is known for adding fiddle (or an additional fiddle) on songs by everybody from Vince Gill to Colter Wall to The Notorious B.I.G. (not joking, take a look below).

You may even recognize his voice and playing from this viral video where he creates his own version of “Something In The Orange” by Zach Bryan.

And while he gained popularity through TikTok, do not discount his talent or style. He is credited on tracks from Jenna Paulette, Noah Kahan, Josiah & the Bonnevilles, and more. This all led to his milestone Bluebird Café debut in May 2022, and he’s just been adding to his already-impressive resumé since then.
Now, Philip has announced his long-awaited debut album Old Kanawha will be released August 18th.
And it’s set to feature collaborations with both Charles Wesley Godwin and Josiah and the Bonnevilles, as if Philip’s fiddle skills weren’t enough to look forward to.
Philip also shared a preview of “Lightning Bugs” in his post announcing the new album.
Pretty pumped for this one. There’s a lot of talent up there in the mountains of West Virginia.
