It’s always a bit confusing how exactly to classify a song that comes out right on the border of 2 decades.
There’s no denying ’90s country will always have a special place in our hearts, but what about those songs that came out right at the turn on the millennium that still have that classic feel but were released in 2000?
That’s exactly the situation with “Yes!”
An absolute jam that professional wrestler turned country singer Chad Brock is easily best known for.
It was the title track for his 2000 album whose lead single was a rewrite of the classic Hank Williams Jr. song “A Country Boy Can Survive,” featuring Williams and George Jones.
But it was “Yes!” that put him on the map and was the only Number 1 of his career, topping on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 3 weeks.
Subsequent releases included “The Visit,” “Tell Me How,” and “Put A Redneck In The White House” which all failed to go past 21 on the charts, leading him to move into a career as a radio jockey for various stations in the southeast.
Regardless of how the rest of his career turned out, this song will always be a jam.
