Shania Twain Says She Would “Love” To Work With Her Ex-Husband Again: “I Just Don’t Think He’d Be Interested”

Shania Twain country music

I feel like this is a great idea in theory, but I’m not so sure it would really work that well…

Shania Twain recently sat down with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to talk about her sixth studio album Queen of Me, which drops tomorrow, and they discussed wide-range of topics, which included the new record, but also some really neat personal stories I’d never heard before.

My favorite was probably what she told him about turning Prince down for a collaboration, which you should definitely read about HERE.

And another really interesting part of the chat was when Shania talked about wanting to work with her ex-husband and former producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange, again.

The pair were married in 1993 and share one son together, Eja.

Mutt was instrumental in her early career, producing albums like her 1995 The Woman in Me, in addition to co-writing songs like “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” and “No One Needs to Know,” just to name a few quickly.

He helped her find her voice and, ultimately, become the 90’s queen and international pop country star we know and love today.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows…

They ended their marriage in 2010, after 14 years together, because, in a very shortened version of the wild story, Mutt had an affair with Shania’s best friend.

Somehow, she’s impressively been able to heal and fully move on, and apparently would “love” to work with him again:

“I would love to. I’d make another album with him or just a song.”

The only problem is, she doesn’t think he’d be interested…

“I don’t think he would… I just don’t think he’d be interested. I don’t know. I just think he’s turned that page very definitively. I just don’t think he wants to.

I think he just wants the past to be behind him, which is fair enough. So yeah, I don’t think that will ever happen.

I would, but I do think about it often. I think it would be great.”

That’s honestly the most mature thing I think I’ve heard in a long time, so good for her being able to even admit that.

I don’t know of many women who’d even be able to be in the same room as their ex-husband…

But you certainly can’t argue they don’t make a helluva pair when it comes to music, so I get in a way why Shania would be so eager to get back in the studio with him… maybe we do need to start trying to convince Mutt this needs to happen.

At the very least, if they never work together in a professional capacity again, we have them to thank for this all-time anthem:

“Man! I Feel Like A Woman!”
