Fans Call Out Defense After 49ers Tight End George Kittle Says QB Situation Was “Pretty Sh*tty”

Yesterday, the Philadelphia Eagles punched their ticket to the Super Bowl, after throttling the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship Game.

Of course, things looked pretty bleak from the get go for the 49ers, after starting quarterback Brock Purdy went down with a UCL injury on the second drive of the game, forcing them to resort to fourth-string journeyman quarterback Josh Johnson, who also proceeded to go down with injury in the third quarter, and next thing you know star running back Christian McCaffrey was having to play the QB position…

In the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP.

Needless to say, it was a tough season for 49ers quarterbacks. Original starting QB Trey Lance had a season ending injury in only the second game of the season, forcing them to go back to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Jimmy G played well during his time as starter, but he ultimately had a season ending injury back in week 15, and they had to resort to the very last pick of the 2022 draft, Brock Purdy.

Purdy played incredible in his first five games, especially for a guy who was projected to be a career backup and practice squad guy, and played a massive role in the 49ers reaching the NFC Championship.

However, they were only down to one guy after he went down with injury.

You can imagine the frustration from 49ers players, knowing that they were down to their fourth and fifth options at quarterback in the biggest game of the year, and it truly is a miracle they were even there in the first place, given all the injuries.

With that being said, one Niners player couldn’t contain his frustration on the issue, and it was no other than tight end George Kittle.

Kittle wasn’t shy about it in the postgame press conference, saying:

“How does it feel to lose in an NFC Championship game because I don’t have a quarterback?

Pretty sh*tty, to be honest. Yeah, that’s about it.”

Of course, the quarterback didn’t give up 31 points to the Eagles, but there will always be that “what if” factor, had Purdy been able to play the whole game.

But, a lot of fans didn’t see it that way, and were throwing shade at the star tight end on Twitter:
