Remember When Loretta Lynn & Kid Rock Got Hitched?

Kid Rock Loretta Lynn country music

As we continue to process the loss of country music icon, Loretta Lynn, who passed away at her Hurricane Mills, Tennessee home at the age of 90 this morning, it’s important we take a look at some of her greatest, and also funniest, moments.

Not only was she one of the most beloved country artists in the genre’s history, one of the most influential, and one of its greatest songwriters, she also had one of the best personalities, too.

With that being said, I remembered this gem from a couple of years back, when she hilariously got married to none other than… checks notes… Kid Rock?

Yep, you heard that correctly.

Back in 2020, her son, Ernie, and wife, Crystal, renewed their vows, and somehow Kid Rock ended up being in the mix at the ceremony.

According to the Instagram post, the two had joked about getting married for awhile, so ol’ Bob Ritchie and Queen Loretta tied the knot.

She hilariously shared in the caption:

“What a weekend! My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend. It was beautiful and everything it should be. Marriage isn’t always easy–heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness.

Things got crazy then–my boy Kid Rock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”

Legendary.

Of course, it was all out of jest, and Loretta cleared the air about the new marriage shortly after in a follow up Instagram post:

“Well, it didn’t last long, y’all but it sure was fun! I guess I better get on here and let y’all know that it was just a joke… Kid Rock and I didn’t get married over the weekend, but we had a blast.”

Man, if only we could’ve gotten a “Picture Part 2″ duet with Loretta Lynn.

In all seriousness, Kid Rock and Loretta Lynn were great friends and he shared a touching photo earlier today, morning the loss of his longtime friend and hero”

“RIP Miss Loretta.

I find it very difficult to put your beautiful soul, talent and friendship into words right now…

So I will use the ones you said to me and so many others, so many times… ‘I love you honey.'”

The two also rode together in Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade a few years back.
