She’s living every girl’s dream.
This weekend, Riley Green rolled into Mountain View, California for a show at Shoreline Amphitheatre, where he of course ran through his fan-favorite hits, including his duet with Ella Langley “You Look Like You Love Me.”
And during that song, Riley noticed a very special fan out in the crowd, a young lady who he said had been “giving me the eye all night.” And it probably isn’t exactly who you have in mind… Riley noticed a lovely, grandma in the front row, and he decided to dedicate the song to her.
He told the crowd:
“This young lady right here, she’s been giving me the eye all night. So here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna sing this one to you, okay? Here we go.”
Riley sang for a little bit more on stage, then walked down to where this woman was and sang directly to her, and at the end, she planted a big ole kiss on his cheek.

Riley is in the midst of a very busy season in his career right now, having just released his new album That’s Just Me less than two weeks ago, which features a pretty lengthy 19-song tracklist. It also features collaborations with Hannah McFarland, Jake Worthington, Alabama’s Randy Owen, and my personal favorite, Brooks & Dunn.
He also made his debut as a judge on The Voice last week, and fans seem to be loving him so far.
Riley sat down for an interview with sports personality Pat McAfee for Spotify a couple weeks ago, and he reflected on his success thus far and what his strategy was for this next record. Of course, the challenge is always to stay true to who you are as an artist, while also keeping the music fresh and exciting for fans. Riley has always been a rare mainstream artist who sticks to that decidedly country sound.
And even with his massive success, he tries to always include songs about his life in “small town Alabama” and things like that, which he’s written about since the beginning:
“Every year that things are going well and it grows and things get bigger, I always tend to make sure I find a way to write from that same place that got me here. Which is just small town Alabama where I grew up.
So I always try to go home and write, at least four or five songs that are going to be on every record from that mindset of just how I grew up and my family values, like I said, things I wrote about from the beginning.”
There are so many great songs on the tracklist, “Beach Happy,” is a great one too, and I’ve been loving all of the songs on the album. Riley delivered once again, and while he’s starting to wind down in terms of his tour schedule (he’s been on the road pretty much all year in addition to everything else he has going on), he still has a few shows left and if you’ll be anywhere nearby, he puts on a heck of a live concert.
You might just get as lucky as this lovely lady in California…
