Watch Billy Strings Perform With Micah Nelson at Outlaw Music Festival

Billy strings country music

Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival is a traveling festival, and it is in full swing… the lineup is killer.

It is a country music fan’s dream from Willie Nelson & Family, the Avett Brothers, Billy Strings, Chris Stapleton, and more.

At the Massachusetts stop of the festival, Billy Strings took the stage with Micah Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson.

Nelson came out on stage during Strings’ set for a final song that was magical… a cover of Willie Nelson’s tune, “Blue Skies.”

Originally written by Irving Berlin, “Blue Skies” was record by Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, and more before Willie recorded it for his Stardust album in 1978.

The acoustic performance highlights Strings’ ability to pick up a tune and absolutely kill it, meanwhile Nelson’s voice immediately reminds you of his father’s.

Strings backs up Nelson for the second verse, and their harmonies are effortless.

This duo should grace stages together more often.

And if you want to listen for fun, here is the original from Willie Nelson.
