Watch Willie Nelson & Dyan Cannon Sing “Uncloudy Day,” Live From The Set Of ‘Honeysuckle Rose’

Ol’ Shotgun Willie at his finest.

It ain’t a secret that Willie Nelson may be the most interesting and most likeable character in the history of country music.

We’re talking about one of the best singer/songwriters in country music history, a weed connoisseur, and not to mention, the guy was a pretty damn good actor as well.

And when you combine the man’s incredible music talents with his acting abilities, you have movies like Honeysuckle Rose.

Honeysuckle Rose was a romance musical that was released back in 1980, which starred Willie, two heartthrobs at the time in Dyan Cannon and Amy Irving, Slim Pickens, and more.

In the movie, Nelson played country singer Buck Bonham, who was struggling to get his name out there on the national scale.

He has a good family (Cannon played his wife, Viv), but he’s faced with temptation after one of his former guitarist’s daughters joins his tour (Amy Irving), and things begin to take a turn for the worse.

Although the movie didn’t see a ton of success(Irving won both a Golden Raspberry and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for “Worst Supporting Actress”), it led to an Academy Awards nomination for “Best Original Song,” with one of Nelson’s most popular hits, “On the Road Again.”

With that being said, I was digging through the vaults and found this live recording at one of Willie’s shows, which was all filmed for the movie.

In the video, you see both Nelson and Dyan Cannon sitting on stage in front of thousands of people, as he delivers an impressive performance of his song “Uncloudy Day.”

There’s just something about hearing a live recording from Shotgun Willie that’s special.
