A 15-Song Introduction To The Greatness That Is Shane Smith & The Saints

Shane Smith & The Saints

There are tons of underrated and underappreciated country music bands out there, but few more so than Austin, Texas based act Shane Smith & the Saints.

You should already be familiar with Shane Smith & the Saints by now. They have been one of the best bands in the business for years, releasing their first album Coast in 2013 and relentlessly touring the country ever since. If that isn’t enough, you probably at least heard their song “All I See Is You” on season four of Yellowstone.

With three studio albums, a live album, and several singles in their catalog, they have made a name for themselves with their distinct sound, intricate harmonies, and electrifying live performances. Smith’s uniquely deep and gravelly vocals are complimented by his deft songwriting and storytelling ability, solidifying his spot as one of the best frontmen in all of music.

The rest of the band is equally as important to the band’s success, though. The band has drawn comparisons to the Turnpike Troubadours over the years, and that is in large part due to the band’s prominent use of the fiddle. Fiddle player Bennett Brown is one of the most talented musicians out there, and his stage presence is spectacular, almost always dressed in his signature Carhartt overalls.

Rounding out the rest of the band are Dustin Schafer on lead guitar, drummer Zach Stover, and bassist Chase Satterwhite. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with.

If for some reason you aren’t familiar with their music, or just haven’t done a deep dive into their catalog, here are 15 of my favorite Shane Smith & the Saints songs.

Check out this video of them playing Townes Van Zandt’s classic “Pancho & Lefty” from their Live from the Desert album.
