Tim McGraw Calls Tom Hanks’ Cameo Appearance On ‘1883’ One Of “Most Moving Scenes In The Show”

Tim Mcgraw Tom Hanks 1883

After this past Sunday’s episode of 1883, it appears the action is starting to unfold, and shit is starting to get real.

The Dutton caravan has encountered something they haven’t seen before… bandits… and it’s already proved to be deadly for a beloved member of the team.

Needless to say, Episode 6 can’t come fast enough, even though we’re on a week delay of the release.

Looking at the show from an outsider’s perspective, the one thing that pops out is the absolute star studded cast…

We’ve got Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, LaMonica Garrett (who’s been awesome), Isabel May, Billy Bob Thornton, and even cameo appearances from Tom Hanks, and his wife, Rita Wilson.

The cast is enough to catch the eye of anybody, even if you’re not a fan of Yellowstone.

Although we haven’t seen Wilson make an appearance yet, Hanks made his cameo appearance in episode two as U.S. Civil War General George Meade.

With that being said, Tim McGraw discussed how incredible it was to see Hanks come in and play that part with such ease, calling it one of the most moving scenes in the entire show:

“It was pretty spectacular for Tom Hanks to show up and do the scene. We’ve been friends for such a long time. We’re family friends forever. Our kids are friends, Faith and Rita are best friends, and so to ask him to do this scene and he says, ‘Sure, I’ll be there. Tell me when,’ was just so incredible.

To me it was one of the most moving scenes in the show. And it starts with an original picture from the battleground scene. You find out that I was a Captain in the Civil War and I had a lot of PTSD from that.

No matter how good of friends you are and how well you know someone, when you’re sitting there in a scene that’s that emotional and you see Tom Hanks walk up in a Union uniform, and look at you and say, ‘Captain.’

And then he just sat beside me and he puts his hand on my shoulder and he goes, ‘I know.’ I just fell apart. That’s somebody that knows what they’re doin’. He was just really good.”

Needless to say, the scene was big for both Tim and Tom’s characters, as they were able to bond over the horrors of the Civil War.

Episode 6 is slated to air on Sunday, January 30th, only on Paramount+.
