Miranda Lambert Teases New Song “If I Was A Cowboy” And I’m Already Obsessed

Miranda Lambert country Music

Does Miranda Lambert ever sleep?

She’s teasing even more new music today, if you can believe it.

On top of her Christmas album with the Pistol Annies that comes out later this month, she has some new music of her own on the way.

The new song she just announced, “If I Was a Cowboy”, comes out next Friday and I already love it. She dreams up what it would be like to be a cowboy from a woman’s perspective, noting how much it easier it often seams than having to live up to some of the different expectations woman face every day.

It kinda sounds like the country version of Beyonce’s hit “If I Were A Boy” from what I’ve heard so far:

“If I was a cowboy
I’d be wild and free
Rollin’ around these towns like tumbleweeds
I’d be a legend at lovin’ and leavin’
Nippin’ on a whiskey and numbin’ up my feelings
You thought the west was wild
But you ain’t saddled up with me
If I was a cowboy I’d be the Queen”

She posted a short clip of what appears to be a possible music video, as well as a bit of the song:

“If I Was a Cowboy || October 15.”

I don’t know if this means she’s gearing up to release a solo album too, though.

Seeing as she’s already done The Marfa Tapes with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram this year and also has the aforementioned holiday record coming, it seems like a lot. But, she’s a badass and has been on a bit of a tear since Wildcard, so I guess it really wouldn’t shock all that much if that’s what this ends up being for.

New music from Miranda is exciting to me no matter what it’s for, and I love the direction of all the new projects and tunes she’s been putting out lately.

After hearing just a small part of this track, I’m praying her 9th studio album is on the way soon.
