Kacey Musgraves Channels Her Inner Jenny Gump With Naked SNL Performance Of “Justified”

Kacey Musgraves is baring it all with her new post-divorce album Star-Crossed

Literally.

Owen Wilson introduced her as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night, and she hit the stage to sing “Justified” in nothing more than a pair of cowboy boots with only an acoustic guitar to cover her front side.

Of course, it was a nod to the scene in the iconic 1994 film Forrest Gump, where Jenny performs Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind” naked at a club in Nashville.

I don’t of many, if any, other artists in country music who would even think about doing something like this, so I have to appreciate her willingness to put herself out there in every sense of the word and try something different.

She’s all but left country music with this most recent record, too, but I’m still a Kacey Musgraves fan-girl, and her doing her own thing and not being afraid to take chances in her career is what I love about her.

Plus, Forrest Gump is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I really can’t find anything wrong with the whole thing.

Even though I’m sure this won’t be for everybody, I have to say, I kinda love it:

And, I was expecting this whole thing to stir up a lot more controversy over on Twitter.

Most fans seemed to like the nod to Jenny Gump, and appreciated the creativity and artistry that went into creating this performance.

I honestly only saw positive comments, so it’s safe to say Kacey absolutely wins Twitter today:

Kacey confirmed the inspiration for her performance was, in fact, Jenny Gump, as she posted a photo from Jenny’s performance in the movie on her Twitter page last night:

Kacey also took the stage to sing “Camera Roll”:
