Powerful Mantis Shrimp Punches A Hole Through Fisherman’s Boot, Draws Blood

You ever had a 55-gallon drum of whoop-ass unleashed on you? From a shrimp?

Now, I’ll be the first to tell you, the deep sea terrifies me. I remember watching those videos in science class in school and seeing some of those monstrous fish that live at the bottom of the ocean, and it was right then that I realized deep-sea diving is not my cup of tea.

And today, I’ve learned of yet another mind-boggling freak of nature that lives in the ocean:

The Mantis Shrimp.

This ain’t no shrimp ol’ Bubba from Forrest Gump would be cookin’ up at the Bayou La Batre. This is a shrimp that will unleash its absolute wrath on your ass in a heartbeat.

A YouTuber by the name of “Mr. Markus” was out on the water fishing a few months ago, when he caught one of the biggest shrimp I’ve ever seen, a Mantis Shrimp.

Apparently, the Mantis Shrimp is notorious for using its body to latch on and literally punch its prey. In fact, it actually has the hardest punch in the animal kingdom. With its front claws, the Mantis Shrimp delivers a strike upwards of 60 miles per hour.

When he reeled the monster shrimp in, it straight up punched Mr. Markus so hard, it put a hole in his wet boot, and even drew blood from his foot.

Absolute lunatics, these things.

It might not look like much, but pound for pound… he packs a punch.
