This prequel to Yellowstone is about to be out of this world.

As Taylor Sheridan’s vision for the Yellowstone universe continues to expand, we’re gonna get the full backstory behind the Dutton family.

Titled 1883, The story begins in Texas where James and Margaret Dutton, the original patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family, who with the help of Shea Brennan, set out on the treacherous journey across the Great Plains, to settle in Montana… where the Dutton family still resides today.

We know they’re going BIG in the production department, essentially building a brand new town near Fort Worth, Texas, as well as 30 wagon trains that the crew will literally take all the way to Montana. The set will eventually become a real-life city on wheels.

And now, as shooting has already begun, we have some leaked images on set.

Featuring Tim McGraw in his James Dutton costume, as well as Sam Elliott (who never looks out of place as a cowboy), filming has begun in Granbury Texas, outside of Fort Worth.

I’ll say it, December 19th can’t get here fast enough.
