Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall & Jack Ingram Release New ‘Marfa Tapes’ Track, “Am I Right Or Amarillo”

They just keep getting better.

I don’t know how it’s possible, but every single song Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram have put out from their forthcoming album, The Marfa Tapes, has been downright incredible.

They’ve just released the next track, “Am I Right Or Amarillo,” and I already have it on repeat. It’s a stunning, sly, cheating song where we’re privy to the couple’s thoughts in tempting each other, debating if what they’re doing is worth it.

The lyrics are so beautifully descriptive, especially when they sing:

“My ring is on my keychain,
Your diamonds in your purse,
It wont feel like cheating,
If nobody gets hurt.”

Mix that in with the gorgeous harmony the trio delivers on the chorus and you have a genuine country cheating song that’s as Texas as it gets. And while the point of this project is to be real and raw, if you listen closely at the end, it sounds like you hear Miranda say with a chuckle:

“I’ve lived it.”

Can’t get much more vulnerable than that.

And the fact that they’re letting us all in on the process? I’m pretty sure this might be the coolest thing we’ve heard in a long while.

The Marfa Tapes is set to release on May 7th.
