Thomas Rhett Announces Nostalgic New Single, “Remember You Young,” Which Reminds Me, I Miss The Old Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett et al.

It’s almost hard to believe that Thomas Rhett’s debut album came out all the way back in 2013.

Now, some thirteen #1 singles later, and ready to release the nostalgic “Remember You Young” as his next, it feels more like it’s actually us that remember you young Mr. Rhett. Back when your music was more like your dad’s and less like Bruno Mars.

It’s no secret that Rhett’s sound has changed over the years. As we’ve gone down the line from “Something To Do With My Hands” back in 2012, to the funky, pop stylings of his most recent hit, “Look What God Gave Her,” so has the number spins gone down that Rhett receives in my rotation. Still, every once in a while, I find myself going back to those old tunes from It Goes Like This. Songs like “Beer With Jesus,” and “In A Minute.” Songs that got us excited for the future of country music, not frustrated over where it has ended up.

Remember this one? “Something To Do With My Hands,” written alongside the great Chris Stapleton.

“Ain’t Ready To Quit,” which was eventually cut by Jason Aldean.

And, even on his last album Life Changes, we had this boot-stompin’ little number featuring his dad, Rhett Akins. “Drink A Little Beer” is proof that, if nothing else, he’s still capable of putting out a kick-ass country song.
