Jake Owen To Make Acting Debut In ‘The Friend,’ Starring Jason Segal, Dakota Johnson & Casey Affleck

Jake Owen will be making his acting debut in a film called The Friend, currently filming in Fairhope, Alabama. Owen will star alongside Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, and Casey Affleck, along with Gwendoline Christie, Denee Benton, and Tony and Cherry Jones.

Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, the film is based on writer Matthew Teague’s award-winning essay, “The Friend: Love is Not a Big Enough Word,” a true-story account first published in the May 2015 issue of Esquire about his terminally ill wife and the support of his best friend, who moves into their home following the diagnosis.

Jake is also gearing up to release his latest next studio album, Greetings From… Jake, out March 29th.
