The Hocevar-Blaney NASCAR rivalry is heating up on the track, off the track, and on the interstate?
Joey Logano won at Bristol this past weekend, but that’s been completely lost in the shuffle. The story that’s dominated the NASCAR world is the fight that Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar got in following the conclusion of the race. Blaney did what a lot of other NASCAR drivers likely wish they had done after a late-race run-in between the driver of the No. 77 car and the driver of the No. 12 car caused Blaney to be knocked out of the competition.
In case you missed what happened, it had been a great race for Blaney, who ran up front for much of the night. He actually led for 202 laps after being forced to start 29th after qualifying was canceled the day before due to weather. But his race and all of the momentum he had built came to an end when, on the 457th lap, NASCAR’s favorite villain – Carson Hocevar – spun him out.
There’s been some debate as to who is really to blame for the wreck… but the consensus is that Hocevar was at fault, and the collision brought an end to Blaney’s great run at Bristol:
It was no surprise that, once the race concluded, Blaney had some things he wanted to say to Hocevar.
Blaney wasted no time making his way over to Hocevar’s car on pit road, and once he got there, the driver of the No. 12 car rushed the driver of the No. 77 car, who then decided to counter by… punching Blaney in the face multiple times.
It was an immediate aggression and elevation that pretty much sums Hocevar’s driving style:
Again, Joey Logano won the race… but not many people have been talking about that.
Hilariously, the budding rivalry extended to the drive to the next NASCAR race: the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City. Some NASCAR fans couldn’t help but notice that, though Blaney wasn’t able to finish the race in Bristol, his hauler was locked in quite the competition with Hocevar’s on the interstate afterwards:
“They just got in a fight. Here’s Carson Hocevar’s trailer. And here’s Ryan Blaney’s hauler. There you go… I wonder if they are gonna wreck each other.”

Of course, that vide above happened to be more of a coincidence than anything else. The two semis weren’t actually racing (or maybe they were?).
Regardless, that video added even more lore to the weekend in Bristol, and had racing fans leaving comments below the viral post like these:
“Wonder if Blaney’s trailer is gonna try to protect the inside.”
“You know the hauler drivers are saying stuff to each other.”
“They better pull over and finish it.”
“Round 2, I see.”
“This is priceless.”
“Real NASCAR is back… I hope this rivalry runs deep.”
