Luke times two.
I mean, who doesn’t like a good old fashioned beer drinking song? It’s a country music staple… and Luke Bryan teamed up with Luke Combs on one called “Finders Keepers” as part of his new album Signs.
It’s the opening song on the 12-track album, and was written by Jimi Bell, Beau Bailey and Sam Ellis. This marks the first time Luke and Luke have done a song together, and while it’s certainly no “Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain,” it’s a fun, upbeat drinking song and those are definitely what Bryan does best:

She took the ;U’ right out of “us”
That road you’re on, that ‘I was wrong’ one, ‘now she’s gone,’ yeah, it’s a long one

She’s one in a million, I know the feelin’, but you know how that sayin’ goes

During an interview with Cody Alan on Highway Mornings, Luke talked about how it came to be, saying he realized he wanted a collab on the album and instantly knew he wanted it to be Combs. They had to make it happen quickly, but they got the song in on time and here we are:
“We recorded it, I went in and sang the vocal, and I was like man, you know, I didn’t have a kind of a collab or any ideas on the album yet. And I just texted over to Luke, and I did the whole thing like, ‘Man, obviously no pressure but just wanted to get your read on this.’ And he goes, ‘I’m in.’ And I was like, ‘What do I do now?’
And we were fired up and then he went in… what was interesting is, I kind of ruined his life a little bit, because we had to run quickly to get it turned over. and so therefore, he had to hustle to get the vocals done and in it like we we got it in last minute, but I’m really proud of this.”
He said in a previous statement that he’s always wanted to work with Combs, and they finally got their “Luke and Luke” moment with “Finders Keepers”:
“I’ve always wanted to get him on a song. Obviously, he’s an amazing singer, and we’ve become buddies over the years. I’ve always wanted a Luke & Luke moment. The first time I heard this song, I was in the middle of recording in the studio, and my manager played me the song.
It hit me like a ton of bricks from the moment I heard it, and I recorded it on the fly. I want to thank the writers, Beau Bailey and Jimi Bell, and Sam Ellis, for never giving up on this song and for making sure it got to me. When Luke heard it, he called me right back and said, ‘let’s do this thing.’”
Again, it’s not an instant classic or anything like that, but having Combs on the track just takes it to another level, and I feel like it had to be a song like this for them to pull it off and make it authentic for both of them.
It’s leaps and bounds better than “Fish Hunt Golf Drink,” I think we can all agree with that…
