Summer Pardi Shares That Her Dad Has Cancer In The Wake Of Divorce Announcement From Jon Pardi

More sad news from the Pardi family.

Just weeks after the country music world was rocked by one of the highest-profile divorces in recent memory, with Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo announcing their split after 10 years, Jon Pardi has just announced he will be divorcing his wife, Summer.

Taking to Instagram minutes ago in a joint post, Jon and Summer announced that they will be ending their marriage, citing it as a difficult decision.

“After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. Our daughters will always remain our highest priority and we are committed to moving forward with love and respect as co-parents.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and respect as we navigate these changes as a family.”

In the wake of the news, Jon would announce on his Instagram story that he will be continuing his current stretch of shows throughout the summer. However, he’d explain that he will be taking a break from social media to better focus on himself and his family as he navigates this chapter of his life.

“While I navigate this next chapter, I’m going to take some time away social media to focus on myself and my family. Thanks to you all for the love and support. My team will handle posting for the time being. I’ll see you at the shows.”

The couple has been together since 2017, something Jon himself called “love at first sight.” Two years later, the two got engaged on the stage at Ryman Auditorium back in 2019. On November 21, 2020, they would marry at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Since then, as alluded to in the post, they have had two daughters, Presley Fawn, who is three, and Sienna Grace, who will be turning two this month.

Throughout the years, Summer has starred in a plethora of music videos alongside the “Dirt On My Boots” singer, including “Heartache Medication” and, most recently, “Boots Off” earlier in the year.

Thankfully for the couple, it seems as if the split is an amicable one, focusing on their two daughters above everything else. Undoubtedly, divorce is never an easy thing to navigate, so keep the Pardi family in your prayers as they navigate a difficult time in their lives.

But unfortunately, it’s not the only bad news Summer shared today, as her father, Larry, was recently diagnosed with a bone cancer called multiple myeloma, which he discovered after a series of events following a tractor accident.

Summer shared her dads post on her stories earlier, saying she believes he will “kick cancers a**,” adding that he is a “special guy”:

“A little life update on my dad. I know everyone on here loves him dearly,  even those who don’t know him personally. He’s a special guy and he’s gonna kick cancers a**.”

Larry shared more about his treatment plan and how he was diagnosed, saying he has some “great doctors” helping him and he will start a trial program as part of the healing process:

“After a tractor incident a couple months ago that left me with significant back pain, I finally dragged myself to the ER at Clovis and then Cedar Sinai. Turns out I had several bone fractures and bulging discs.

Further testing revealed the fractures were related to multiple myeloma, a cancer that’s been quietly weakening my bones over time. I’m not beginning treatment and recover at Clovis Cancer Institute and have been accepted in a trial program!

I have a great team of doctors around me and I’m actually grateful to finally have some answers – even if it’s not exactly the kind of plot twist I was hoping for… I’m in a good place and taking it a day at a time ‘fighting not to let the old man in!’ Love to all.”

There’s a lot of bad news coming from the Pardi family, but our prayers go out to Larry and the whole family, and hopefully he can beat this thing and continue being a great grandpa to Summer and Jon’s young daughters, Presley and Sienna:
