“We’re Drinking The Same Water”: Jake Worthington Offers High Praise For Post Malone After Writing Together

Post Malone and Jake W

Is a Jake Worthington-Post Malone collaboration coming soon?

Though there has been plenty of conversation and subsequent criticism over Post Malone’s venture into country music over the past few years, as time passes, it’s become clear that he’s here to stay in the genre for the foreseeable future. Of course, Post started his country music journey with 2024’s massive, 27-song album, F-1 Trillion, which called upon some of the biggest stars, ranging from Hank Williams Jr. and Dolly Parton to Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen to Sierra Ferrell and Billy Strings.

Over the past year and a half since F-1 Trillion’s release, Post has made himself a frequent flyer in both Nashville and the country community at large, headlining massive festivals, opening his own bar, Postys, on Broadway and making even more appearances with the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Zach Top, Lainey Wilson and more out on the road.

Along the way, he’s made friends from some of the hottest names in Nashville recently. With names like Zach Top, Ernest and Muscadine Bloodline all offering up high praise to the “Congratulations” singer as both a person and lover of country music recently, it’s become pretty clear that a majority of industry has looked at him favorably.

Despite the success of F-1 Trillion, Post has been all but radio-silent in terms of releases since then. That all changed recently back on April 6th when he teased his massive, 40-song upcoming record, titled The Eternal Buzz, with the simple caption: “Coming soon”

Since then, some discoveries had been made on made on ASCAP, the organization responsible for licensing the rights to songs. Taking a look at their ACE Repertory yielded some interesting results that undoubtedly point to at least half of The Eternal Buzz continuing his journey in country music, with multiple songs being registered featuring the likes of Ernest, HARDY, Luke Combs and other Nashville staples listed as co-writers along with Post.

Another artists who has written with Post recently (and will hopefully appear on the album) is none other than the red-hot traditionalist himeself, Jake Worthington.

Fresh off his apperance alongside the rapper-turned-country star at Stagecoach when they covered George Strait’s “Give It Away,” Worthington appeared on Troy Cartwright’s Ten Year Town podcast to discuss everything from the team-up to touring with Luke Combs and Zach Top and more.

On the topic of Post, Worthington would explain that he met Post awhile ago through his label, Big Loud Records, noting that many frequent collaborators of both Post and Morgan Wallen such as Ernest and Chandler Walters have been great to him.

“I’ve met Post, or Austin I like to call him, a while back. Again, this is because my affiliation with Big Loud. I’ve gotten to meet a lot of them writers, the Block brothers and Ernest and Chandler [Walters]. Them boys have been good to me. “

The “It Ain’t The Whiskey” singer would then go on to note that he got in touch with the “Pour Me a Drink” singer through the Block brothers and has written a few songs alongside the Post and his co-writing circle.

“They invited me to a write, Austin did, and all them boys were there. It was really fun. Charlie Handsom was there. He’s brilliant, man. I was floored with just where their minds go. So anyhoo, we’ve wrote songs, we’ve known each other, we drank beer together, we hung out.”

Like Ernest, Worthington would finish by reaffirming how much of a lover of the genre Post is, noting that they’re “drinking the same water” when it comes to music taste.

“He loves country music. When you go backstage with him, he’s listening [to it]. We’re drinking the same water, you know? He’s listening to country music.”

Of course, this doesn’t confirm a Worthington-Post collaboration on The Eternal Buzz, it feels like there’s a strong possibility whenever Post finishes the record and announces a full tracklist.

Given the fact that he pulled from nearly every corner of the genre on F-1 Trillion in terms of features, it would only feel fitting to include one of the hottest traditional artists working today on the project.
