All kinds of news from the Kelce family this weekend.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has reportedly decided to return to the NFL, and the Kansas City Chiefs, for a 14th season after speculation over the offseason that he would be retiring to pursue a career in television broadcasting.
But now that we’ve got that out of the way we can get to the real news: Donna Kelce is remodeling her home.
Now, I know you’re probably wondering why Mama Kelce remodeling her home is bigger news than a future Hall of Famer deciding to return to the NFL.
Well, that’s just how the internet works.
It all started over the weekend when TMZ for some reason decided to post a story breaking the news that Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and Jason Kelce and future mother-in-law of Taylor Swift, is remodeling her modest Florida home.
And that’s why TMZ is the best in the business. Always getting the scoop and breaking the hard-hitting stories.
According to the article:
“The documents show Donna’s hired a company to replace 9 windows and 6 doors at the home.”
Of course the fact that TMZ is reporting on Donna Kelce’s remodel is so ridiculous that the internet immediately ran with it, and suddenly turned an NFL player’s mother doing a minor remodel to her home into the biggest meme of 2026:
Even Jason Kelce himself got in on the meme:
Honestly, it’s been one of my favorite memes in a while. Just banger after banger tweet of people mocking Donna Kelce’s home remodel.
And in case anybody’s wondering, Kelce’s home is 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,434-square-foot house in Orlando, Florida.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce returning to the Chiefs puts an end to months of speculation about the star tight end’s future.
The 2025 season was a tough one for Kelce, who had considered retirement after last year but decided to run it back after the team got destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
What was supposed to be a redemption season following the Super Bowl loss turned into a nightmare for Kelce, who finished the season with his fewest receptions since 2015, his second season in the league.
He also made some big drops that ended up costing the Chiefs in games, including at the end of a game against the Houston Texans that led to a game-sealing interception.
Of course off the field Travis has not only his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, but he’s also busy planning a wedding to his fiancée Taylor Swift. And at this point he’s one of the older players on the Chiefs at 37, and in fact is the only player left who has been on a Chiefs team that didn’t make the playoffs.
Naturally, there was a lot of speculation that Kelce would be hanging it up at the end of the season, especially given the fact that his current contract expired at the end of the 2025 season. (Swifties were also convinced he would retire after his 13th season because 13 is Taylor Swift’s lucky number, but then again they’re also insane).
The announcement that Kelce would be returning came after there was some chatter that he would be testing the free agency market and talking to other teams for the first time in his career. But it sounds like Kelce will indeed be returning to the Chiefs, at no doubt a reduced salary than he would make if he did decide to go into television.
Honestly, sounds kinda selfish to me. His mom’s remodeling her house and he’s taking a pay cut to play football?
