Zach Top Helps West Virginia Couple With Gender Reveal, But Crowd Of Mountaineer Fans Had Other Plans: “You’re Chanting Something Else”

Zach Top

Zach Top is out here creating memories for fans during their biggest life moments.

When you think gender reveals, you think friends and family in a front yard, about to pop balloons or cut into a cake that’s either blue or pink. Or with some recent viral gender reveals, you might be thinking about a snake popping a balloon from a man’s mouth, or a family spraying colored powder from a septic truck. Just when I thought gender reveals were getting less extravagant, those two videos went viral…

However, a West Virginia couple is giving me hope that some folks want a little help from their friends to share the gender of their child, and their friend is none other than Mr. Zach Top.

During his recent appearance at the State Fair of West Virginia,  Top took his talents to a sold-out crowd, delivering a phenomenal set which included newly released tracks, “South Of Sanity” and “Good Times & Tan Lines.” The music was great, and the crowd was even better, having a blast interacting with the Washington native. By now, you might have seen the viral footage of Zach Top getting thrown a lukewarm shot of Fireball from a fan, leading to a hilarious interaction:

“This is warm. I hope this has been in somebody’s boot. I don’t wanna think about where else it might have been.”

It was in someone’s drawers, Zach…

But that was not the only memorable moment from the night at the State Fair. During another point in his set, Zach Top stops after seeing a sign from a couple asking him to reveal the gender of their baby.

“You got something for me? I’m just gonna read it?”

He asks the crowd as the couple holds up a piece of paper that tells if they will be having a baby girl or a baby boy. As he makes his way to collect the piece of paper from the couple, the crowd, filled with West Virginia University students, begins chanting “Eat sh** Pitt,” which makes for hilarious intermission music while he’s away from the microphone.

When Zach Top returned to his position on stage, he joked with the crowd that he was trying to have a wholesome moment and wouldn’t partake in the chant because his mom disapproves of him using profanities on stage.

“You’re chanting something else than, ‘Reveal this baby’s gender.’ Um, but I’m gonna do this anyway. My mom doesn’t like it when I cuss on stage, so I’ll leave the cussing to you.”

Zach Top then unfolds the piece of paper the couple handed him, accidentally holding up the side that revealed the baby’s gender to the crowd. The crowd quickly begins yelling at him, and he flips the piece of paper back around, looking embarrassed about this mistake.

“I messed that up. If you didn’t see it… IT’S A GIRL. Congratulations, Kelsey and Dalton, you’re having a baby girl!”

Check it out too from the future mom-to-be’s angle:

@kelsayyy7 The coolest thing ever! Even got to meet him backstage after! Thanks @Zach Top @State Fair of WV #zachtop #genderreveal #countrymusic ♬ original sound – Kelsey

The mama to be, Kelsey, shared in her caption of the video that after the moment, Zach Top had her and Dalton backstage to meet him and offer congratulations again on having a baby.

Zach Top did a stellar job on this gender reveal, even if he did accidentally show the crowd what was written on the paper before he said it out loud. But hey, that could have happened to any of us.

That West Virginia crowd left a lasting impression on Zach Top after that setlist. The gender reveal moment was too sweet (minus the ESP chant), but I’m sure Top could have gone without the lukewarm Fireball…
