Disgusting.

Wrestling star and media personality Hulk Hogan has sadly passed away at 71-years-old. TMZ Sports first reported that Hogan suffered a “cardiac arrest” event at his Clearwater, Florida home early Thursday morning, and despite the responding medical personnel’s best efforts, the WWE star was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Clearwater Police are expected to reveal more about Hogan’s passing in a press conference.

His theatrics inside and outside the ring created an instant and expansive fanbase, and it could be argued that his presence in the WWF gave the organization the spark it needed to grow into what it is today. Fans recreated anything and everything there was about Hulk Hogan – from his signature wrestling moves to his instantly recognizable bandana and handlebar mustache combo.

Hogan was even able to reinvent himself later on his wrestling career, transforming into his “Hollywood Hulk Hogan” character and creating the New World Order (NWO). Villain Hulk Hogan was just as popular as the former hero version, and his run in the sport lasted all the way until 2006, when he competed in the last match of his career at the WWE’s SummerSlam.

Though he’s widely renowned as an icon, Hulk Hogan’s career didn’t come without controversy. The wrestler was briefly removed from the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 (after being inducted in 2005) after a scandal surround some racist comments he had made that were caught on camera. Hogan sued the media company that released the video – and won – and he was later inducted into the wrestling hall of fame again in 2020.

Hogan will obviously always be remembered as a wrestler. However, he did have some memorable roles in TV and movies – most notably playing “Thunderlips” in Rocky III. He had also recently revealed plans to launch his own amateur wrestling league called Real American Freestyle, and Hogan also memorably showed support for Donald Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

But the world hadn’t seen him a lot since then.

There had been rumors in early 2025 that Hulk Hogan was struggling with his health. There was even speculation that the former wrestler was in a coma, but his wife, Sky, shot that rumor down. At the time, she stated that Hulk was “strong” and he was simply recovering from surgeries.

Hogan underwent surgery on his neck back in May, and had countless other surgeries on his body through the years that stemmed from injuries – both short term and long term – that he suffered from his WWE days. There’s no doubt that he put his body on the line to entertain wrestling fans across the years.

Tributes began pouring in immediately after it was announced that he had passed away:

But of course, there were many who couldn’t help themselves and began celebrating the news – all because Hogan was a Trump supporter.

The professional wrestler notably endorsed President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election, delivering an electric speech for the Republican nominee during the RNC last August:

So naturally, there were plenty of disgusting comments that began pouring in from those who disagreed with his politics and hoping that Trump would be next:

Even the media couldn’t help themselves when reporting on Hogan’s death, with The Hill derisively calling Hogan a Trump supporter in their headline:

Par for the course, but still…can’t we hold off on celebrating somebody’s death or making it a political issue, regardless of who they endorsed in an election?
