Tyler Childers recently wrapped up a leg of the Mule Pull Tour in New Zealand and Australia. While his fans loved hearing his Kentucky twang and soulful vocals Down Under, Tyler Childers ensured this leg of the Mule Pull Tour was not just work and no play.
Throughout his shows, Childers likes to share a few stories about making friends with those in the crowd. If you’re lucky, you can hear his story about how an opossum makes for a fine cut of meat. You never really know what Childers might say during this time, but it’s always entertaining and is certain to bring a smile to the faces of the audience members.
During his show in Perth, Australia, Childers shared with the crowd what he was doing during his downtime on tour… visiting aquariums. As an aquarium enthusiast, I love hearing about aquariums worldwide, and Tyler Childers’ description of the Perth Aquarium is some of the most wholesome content.
He sounds like a kid in a candy store describing his experience with the aquatic creatures, his new turtle shirt, and the apparently, the finest eating establishment in the Southern Hemisphere:
“Went to the aquarium yesterday. Which is where I got this wonderful, probably my favorite new shirt with a bunch of turtles on it. And if you haven’t been to the aquarium here in Perth, let me tell you…
As a man who has spent most of my time in bars and learning how to make it in this world off of bar food, the aquarium has probably the finest potato wedge that I have had anywhere in this world.
And if you haven’t been to the aquarium, sharks are cool! I got to pet a starfish, that was very nice. But the potato wedges are AMAZING. Give it up for y’all!”
The creator who shared the wholesome moment from the Perth show noted that money will always come back, but you’ll never be able to hear this passionate speech about aquarium potato wedges again.
“Money comes and goes, but I’ll never by in my 20s listening to Tyler Childers talk about the aquarium again.”

And you want to talk about wholesome, listen to this man encourage a little fellowship, and thank the crowd like only a southern preacher can. If Timmy Tyler ever decided to hang up the guitar, the man could have a career behind the pulpit.
