“They’ve Known Me Since I Was 18″ – Ella Langley Offers Well-Deserved Praise For Muscadine Bloodline Ahead Of “Porch Swing Angel” Performance

Ella Langley Muscadine Bloodline

Nothing bigger than an Ella Langley co-sign right now.

There’s no doubt that the alternative country scene is not only the most popular that it’s ever been, but also arguably the most talented as well. While it seems as if the likes of Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson have risen to the top in popularity, countless other acts have proven time and time again that they deserve to be put into these conversations as well. Of course, you can look to the likes of Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, Flatland Cavalry, Colter Wall, Shane Smith & the Saints and many more.

Though it’s incredibly hard to point to who’s the best band at the moment, given how many generational groups there are currently touring and releasing killer albums, there’s truly not much debate when it comes to who the best duo is: Muscadine Bloodline.

The duo, comprised of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton, has been on an absolute tear as of late. In addition to releasing a staggering seven projects over the decade so far, they’ve finally been catching some mainstream buzz as of late. Notably, they’ve scored Duo of the Year nominations two years in a row at the ACM Awards, and just last week, they scored their first-ever Vocal Duo of the Year nod at the upcoming CMA Awards in November. Couple that with opening up for the likes of superstars like Post Malone and Lainey Wilson, the Alabama natives have been on an absolute tear.

Recently, Muscadine has been serving as direct support for Turnpike for the entirety of their tour, which kicked off in Chicago back in June and wraps up in October. However, with the tour currently on a month-and-a-half-long break from mid-August to early October, the Alabama duo were booked to replace Ernest, who recently announced a touring hiatus, on Ella Langley’s hit Dandelion Tour.

Of course, it’s hard to argue that there’s a bigger artist, not just in the genre but in music as a whole, than Langley. After catching buzz in country music with hits like “you look like you love me,” she’s cemented herself as an all-genre superstar throughout the year thanks to the unprecedented success of “Choosin’ Texas.”

In case you haven’t been keeping up with her and “Choosin’ Texas’” success, it is the longest-running #1 hit by a female artist this century, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts simultaneously and is now officially tied with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for the longest-running #1 EVER in U.S. history.

Over the weekend, Muscadine joined Langley during stops in Newark, New Jersey, State College, Pennsylvania, and Charleston, West Virginia. At each show, the “Be Her” singer took time to show her fellow Alabamians love during her set, sitting down with them to perform their 2018 deep cut, “Enemy,” in Newark and their breakout 2016 hit, “Porch Swing Angel,” in State College and Charleston.

During the Charleston show, Langley would take time before their performance of “Porch Swing Angel” to shout out the killer duo, noting how they’ve known each other since she was 18 and calling them “incredible.”

“They’ve known me since I was 18 years old playing in little sh*tty bars. We were all playing in sh*tty bars at that time… The lyrics, both of y’all’s voices, the effort you put into everything you do, your band, it’s just so incredible. And I’m so thankful to have you out here. I’m just so thankful, so thank you for being here.

They have this song that I love very much; it’s called ‘Porch Swing Angel.’ It definitely represents, I think, where we’re from and kinda how we like to get down anyways.”

You have to appreciate seeing two Alabama natives showing each other a whole lot of deserved love.

@muscadinebloodline @ellalangleymusic ain’t at the top of the mountain just because she’s a great talent. She’s up there because she’s a great person. To whom much is given, much is required and Ella showed us that in action all weekend with style and grace. Her whole crew and team were top notch and we had an incredible time playing for her fans. Hope to run it back one day soon! This moment right here with our Alabama sister will prolly be the highlight of our year. #countrymusic #alabama #ellalangleymusic #muscadine #harmony ♬ original sound – Muscadine Bloodline
